Allowing your customers to update their payment method on Stripe

There are multiple ways to take advantage of Quaderno’s integration with Stripe, one of them is allowing your customers to update their billing details after receiving a Quaderno invoice. If you'd like your customer to be able to update their payment method for a subscription, just follow this guide's steps to offer a seamless experience using Quaderno Billing and the Stripe Customer Portal.

Please keep in mind these options are only available when the Quaderno contact (your customer) has been created via Stripe. It doesn't work for other payment processors.

Activating the Stripe Customer Portal for Quaderno Billing

For your customers to see the Go to billing details link inside their billing area in Quaderno, you would need first to activate this option in your Stripe account:
  1. In your Stripe dashboard, you would just need to go to Settings > Customer portal, where you can enable the options you would like the customer to see.
  1. As your customers will already be receiving Quaderno invoices, you can turn off the Stripe invoice history by disabling the option Allow customers to view their invoice history.

  1. Enable the option Allow customers to update their payment methods.

  1. Enable the option Allow customers to pause and resume subscription if you'd like your customers to have the ability to do so.

  1. Add a link to your Terms and conditions, Privacy policy and optionally, your redirect link.

  1. Click Save.
  1. Go to the Preferences section of your Quaderno account, scroll down to the "Billing section" and disable the option Prevento customers from editing their billing information

That's it! 🎉 After this process is completed, when one of your Stripe customers visits their Quaderno Billing history, they will see the option Go to billing details where they can now update their payment method.

Sending a customer their Quaderno Billing history

Once you've activated the Stripe Customer portal following the steps above, you can send your customers their Quaderno Billing history where they will now see an option that will redirect them to the Stripe Customer Portal. Just follow these steps:
  1. On the contacts page, open the contact's file.
  1. Click View billing history and copy the URL from the new tab.
  1. Send this URL to your customer.
  1. When your customer opens their Quaderno Billing history and clicks ... > Go to billing details, they will be redirected to the Stripe Customer Portal and will be able to update their payment method.
