Issuing refunds

When you need to refund a customer, void the invoice or receipt. Quaderno will issue a credit note — either for the full amount or a partial amount you choose — to keep your records tax-compliant.

If you use a payment integration (Stripe, PayPal, Braintree, or similar), process the refund there first. Quaderno will import it automatically and update your records. Only follow the steps below for invoices and receipts that were created manually in Quaderno.

To issue a refund, follow these steps:

  1. Open the invoice or receipt you want to refund.
  2. Select Void document from the document menu.
  3. Review the Credit note amount field (tax included). It defaults to the full outstanding balance. Enter a lower amount if you only want to issue a partial refund.
  4. Enter a reason in the Reason for voiding field.
  5. Click Void.

A credit note is automatically created for the amount you entered.
