Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon have no state sales tax. Quaderno does not apply state tax for transactions in these states.

For states with city and county-level sales taxes, Quaderno can determine the correct local rate when you provide the customer's postal code. See when Quaderno needs a postal code to calculate taxes for details.

Canadian provinces

Canada applies tax at both the federal level (GST/HST) and the provincial level. Quaderno calculates the following provincial sales taxes:

  • British Columbia (PST)
  • Manitoba (RST)
  • Quebec (QST)
  • Saskatchewan (PST)

Spain — regional tax systems

Spain operates two distinct indirect tax systems:

  • Mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands — subject to standard Spanish VAT (IVA)
  • Canary Islands — subject to IGIC, a separate indirect tax at a different rate

Quaderno applies the correct rate automatically based on the customer's location.

Common questions

My country isn't listed — can I still use Quaderno?

Yes. You can create invoices and documents for any country in Quaderno. If your country isn't supported for automatic tax calculation, you can apply a manual tax rate to your documents.

How does Quaderno know which rate to apply?

Quaderno determines the applicable tax rate based on the customer's location, the type of product or service (standard goods, digital services, SaaS, etc.), and any applicable thresholds. See how Quaderno calculates taxes for a full explanation.

Do I need to collect taxes in every supported jurisdiction?

Not necessarily — the list above covers where Quaderno can calculate taxes, not where you are required to collect them. Whether you need to register and collect tax in a given jurisdiction depends on your sales volume and business location. See in which countries do I need to collect taxes? for guidance.
