Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

Is your business in Europe or do you have customers in Europe? Then you’ve probably heard of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) as part of the Revised Directive on Payment Services (PSD2) coming into full effect 14 September 2019.

What is Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)?

SCA is a new requirement for online payments in order to reduce fraud. When making online payments, an authentication process will now be required in order to verify your customer’s identity.

This does not affect your integration with Quaderno. You do not have to make any updates in Quaderno to comply with SCA, unless you are using Quaderno Checkout or Quaderno.js to create charges.

What should I do now?

The good news is that many payment processors and platforms are already SCA-ready. You may need to make some changes, so please check with your payment processor or cart platform if you haven’t already.

Is Quaderno Checkout SCA-compliant?

Yes, Quaderno Checkout is SCA-compliant. If you are using an older version of Quaderno Checkout, you would just need to create a new checkout link (just takes a few clicks!): Create a checkout link
