Setting up custom tax rates
Taxes are calculated automatically by Quaderno, based on your registered tax jurisdictions, the type of product or service you're selling, and your customer’s location.
For exceptional cases where the default rates on the tax rates page do not apply to your specific business model, Quaderno can help you.
When should you use custom tax rates?
You may need a custom override if your tax advisor confirms you must:
- Control specific tax amounts for a unique product type.
- Handle specialized tax exceptions or exemptions.
- Specify unique tax rates for certain shipping destinations.
- Manage specific provincial tax exemptions (e.g., in Canada) or specialized VAT exemptions (e.g., in the EU or UK).
How to request a custom tax rate
If you need to override a default rate:
- Review your current default rates on the tax rates page.
- Contact Quaderno Support
- Our team will verify the situation and update the rate.
Always check with your tax advisor or the local tax authority to make sure that you are charging your customers the correct tax rates.
